World Class Advice Freely Available: SAFETY FIRST CONFERENCE

Safety professionals looking to boost their skills and networks will pick up world-class advice – absolutely free – during the Safety First Conference & Expo, May 26 – 30 in Melbourne. Australia’s first one-stop safety event, this expo offers free access to industry leaders, backed by a showcase of innovative safety products and services.

Safety First’s free Conference program begins with new strategies for workplace safety. Michelle Baxter, CEO of Safe Work Australia is briefing participants on initiatives to drive work health and safety improvements across the industry. Later in the day, Safe Work Australia’s Dr Peta Miller will share 10 strategies for good work design that – from the outset – helps eliminate work-related hazards and risks while optimising workers’ job satisfaction and productivity.

The Day 1 program will also include a real-time test of safety incidents, to give participants first-hand experience of how – in practice – technology, processes and your actions can combine for successful outcomes.

Day 2 – Wednesday 27th May offers several free sessions. The first, Safety Management in Practice, covers both Fleet Safety – looking at Heavy Vehicles – and advice on Contractor and subcontractor safety responsibilities on multi-employer worksites.

The following session, Collective Occupational Health and Safety examines the new management system for OHS, ISO 45001 and ergonomics advice in Tools and Techniques for supporting health with ageing workforce and multi-generational teams.

Day 3 – Thursday 28 May – begins with a focus on bullying: including the legal framework on workplace bullying and a panel of representatives from police, building and other sectors dealing discussing practical strategies for identifying and managing bullying and harassment.

Day 3’s program also addresses the important subject of mental health in a case study of dealing with anxiety and depression in men.

On Day 4, Safety First’s free program culminates in a vibrant discussion on Preventing Fatigue, followed by a Q&A session.

Running alongside the conference, Safety First presents a showcase of safety solutions from MYOSH, A1 Testing & Tagging, CEJN, Eclipse Security Systems, Rapid Test Systems, SAI Global, Big Ass Fans and more. Entry to the expo is free to the trade.
